Science in the Class
We have been busy today thinking and acting like scientists. We observed, predicted, noticed, reflected and explored using water and kool fruits and the results were amazing. Here are some of the photos from our scientific learning.

First week back...
Wow! This week has flown by! We have had a very busy week in Room 27. On Wednesday we had Diana and her dog Lincoln in to share about being safe around a dog.
On Thursday we had our book parade. Our class had some amazing costumes and as a class we went as animals from Charlotte's Web. The whole school looked amazing in the different costumes they had put together.
Finally TRA took assembly. It was great for the children to be able to share some of the work that we have been doing in our classroom. We shared our volcano art and we had 4 children who read out the writing they had done about volcanoes. Thank you to the parents who came out and supported the class.
Phew! It has been a very busy week! Enjoy your weekend and I look forward to seeing you next week for another busy week.

Duffy Assembly
On Monday we had a very special assembly where we had a special speaker and books were presented to one child from each room.
Our special speaker was Nathan Gray and he was talking all about how reading has been important for him and that is why he has been able to do all the exciting things he has done in his life. He spoke about how he walked the Great Wall of china which is 4,000km. This took him 9 months to complete.
Room 27s book was presented to Elizabeth.

Mr Parkers Visit
On Wednesday we had Mr Parker come and talk to our team. All the year 3/4 classes went into Room 17 to listen all about what would happen if a volcano was to erupt in Auckland. We learnt a lot and are looking forward to sharing our new knowledge.
We also showed Mr Parker some of the volcanic art work we have been working on with Mrs Parker.

Volcanic Eruption
Today we looked at the volcano map of New Zealand and discovered that there are more volcanoes in the North Island than the South Island.

There are 49 volcanoes in the Auckland volcanic field. We began discussing how everyone would get out of Auckland if there was a volcanic eruption.
Tomorrow we have Mr Parker (Mrs Parkers husband) coming in. He will be talking about this, and how people would be evacuated. Come with lots of open ended questions for him.
